Hong Kong born and bred, Carlson has extensive experience in leading an international professional firm.  He is a UK chartered accountant and a Hong Kong CPA.  He joined KPMG UK in 1979 after qualifying, and returned to Hong Kong in 1985. He was elected as Chairman of KPMG in China and Hong Kong in 2007 and became Asia Pacific Chairman and a member of the global board in 2009.  During his term, he has successfully steered the organisation through the turmoil of the global financial crisis.  In April 2011, he retired from KPMG. 

 

Carlson has been actively involved in the community and has a deep interest in the well-being of Hong Kong young people.  To name a few of his recent voluntary commitments, he is a committee member of the University Grants Committee, Chairman of the Employees’ Compensation Insurance Levies Management Board, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Institute and was a Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.
