Application for ESF kindergartens has commenced
Parents who are planning to apply for any of the four ESF International Kindergartens, Abacus, Hillside, Tsing Yi or Wu Kai Sha in the 2012-13 academic year should submit their applications through the online admissions system on www.esf.org.hk from now till 31 October 2011. An application fee of HK$300 applies to all applications.
Children born in 2009 should apply for K1 in the 2012-13 academic year. Priority for places will go to children who are from families whose first or alternative language is English but do not speak Cantonese (Category One). All other children will be regarded as Category Two, and places can be offered to such children should places be available after the Category One applicants have been admitted.
ESF International Kindergartens provide an inquiry- and play- based education for 3-5 year old boys and girls in the medium of English, who attend for three hours a day, for either a morning or an afternoon session. “The kindergartens are candidate schools for the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme and are pursuing authorisation as IB World Schools.” said Ann Pearce, Chief Operating Officer of ESF Educational Services Ltd. (ESL). “IB World Schools share a common philosophy — a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education — that we believe is important for our students. The learning environment is highly interactive and children are encouraged to learn through inquiry and hands-on experiences. The programme also introduces children to the culture and language of China.”
Notes for editors:
The ESF International Kindergartens are operated by ESF Educational Services Limited (ESL), an affiliate of the English Schools Foundation (ESF). The annual fees for the 2011-12 academic year are $51,000 for Abacus and Tsing Yi, $53,600 for Hillside and $56,300 for Wu Kai Sha.
ESL also provides a comprehensive range of after school activities for children and young people. It offers coaching in nine different sports and a large network English and Spanish language programmes for children aged 3-16 years. ESL is an authorised Cambridge Examination Centre for Cambridge English exams and offers IB revision courses.
