JCSRS vocational programme opens door of opportunity to special needs students

During the last three years ESF Jockey Club Sarah Roe School has made significant strides to establish a robust vocational education programme for our students.

This includes developing external placements with a range of local service providers in addition to an extensive range of vocational opportunities within the school setting.

Our partnership with SWIRE enables students to access vocational training at East Hotel. Placements there enable students to work in the housekeeping, laundry and restaurant departments. At Sai Kung Community Centre students contribute to keeping the nursery clean and packing food parcels for members of the local community who are financially challenged.

A new venture in 2018-19 involves a partnership with Lohas Training Centre. Through this, students from JCSRS are developing skills in packing for retail services, working in the Lohas café and co-creating jewelry.

Thanks to the support from SWIRE Foundation and the JCSRS PTA, the above promotional video was created in which it demonstrates the significant achievements of our students in their vocational programmes. We hope that this video will enable us to secure further work placement opportunities.
