Professor Pingyang Gao (高平阳) was born and grew up in Hangzhou China, attended Renmin University of China, obtained a Master’s degree from Peking University, and finally earned his PhD degree at Yale University. Afterwards, he spent 12 years as a professor at the University of Chicago. He is currently a professor at HKU Business School and serves as the Area Head of Accounting and Law. His research has focused on public policy and securities regulation issues with special focuses on capital markets and corporate governance. He teaches financial decision making, corporate finance, and risk management. He has received several honors, including the IBM faculty fellowship, PCL Faculty Scholar, and Centel Foundation/Robert P. Reuss Faculty Scholar. He is a member of the Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society at Yale University, a network of scholars who exemplify service and advocacy for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in academia.
