To: Parents with child in ESF Primary, Secondary and All-through Schools
I am writing to let you know that we are looking to elect parent members to the ESF Board of Governors this year. We will hold an ESF-wide election from 14 September to 6 October 2020.
Parents of a child attending an ESF school are invited to stand for election. If you would like to contribute to the ESF community by joining the ESF Board, please do not miss this opportunity. To know more about the role and function of the ESF Board, please visit this link here.
Number of vacancies
This year, there are two vacancies, both in “Category 1” — Parent of a child in an ESF school.
To stand for election
A parent is eligible to stand for election if he / she is not an ESF employee or the spouse of an ESF employee.
A candidate needs a proposer and a seconder, both must be parents / guardians with children in an ESF school.
To make a nomination
Nominated candidates should download and fill in the nomination form and submit it with a personal statement, which briefly outlines their experience, and how they can contribute to the work of the Board. This statement will be printed and sent to all parents ahead of the election.
The original nomination form, signed by the candidate, the proposer and the seconder along with the personal statement, must reach ESF Centre by 5 pm on 4 September 2020 at the following address:
English Schools Foundation
25/F, 1063 King’s Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong
Please mark “ESF Board Election” on the front of the envelope. (Email copy is not accepted.)
Who can vote?
For each ESF student, a maximum of two parents or guardians are entitled to vote.
Each parent can fill in one ballot paper (one set of votes) for each of the schools that their children attend. For example, a parent with two children at KGV and a child at Beacon Hill School can fill in one ballot paper for KGV and one for Beacon Hill School.
How to vote
We will send the ballot papers with details of the nominated candidates to parents by post by 14 September 2020. The ballot papers must be completed and returned by post or by hand to reach ESF Centre by 12 noon on 6 October 2020. The votes will be counted after 12 noon on 6 October 2020 at ESF Centre under the supervision of ESF’s internal auditor. Results will be announced immediately afterwards.
I would like to thank you for your ongoing support and for participating in this important election. If you have any enquiries, please contact Margaret Tang at firstname.lastname@example.org.
