Jockey Club Sarah Roe School “Adopt-A-Book” Campaign

The Jockey Club Sarah Roe School (JCSRS) is now appealing for donations to the "Adopt-A-Book" Campaign to raise HK$300,000 to purchase 2,000 books for the school library within the 2010-11 school year. For every $150 donation, a donor will adopt a book with a commemorative bookplate with his/her name placed inside the front cover of the adopted book.

Jockey Club Sarah Roe School (JCSRS) is one of twenty one schools in Hong Kong which together form the English Schools Foundation (ESF). JCSRS is a special school providing education for students with severe to profound multiple learning difficulties from age 5 to 19 with English as the medium of instruction. The school serves a group of 64 students and provides an ideal and unique learning environment for students with special education needs who are educated by professionals with special needs training and experienced teachers. Each child is given all possible opportunity in learning, developing skills related to independent living, and most importantly working towards the goal of integrating into appropriate mainstream provision.

Recently, the school library has been refurbished in order to provide a more accessible layout and furniture for the students. Nevertheless, the condition and the collection of the books are both worn out and need updating. New and appropriate books suited to the levels of our students are in need.
