How to write a Social Story

29 May, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

HK$300

Social Stories™ are effective methods to provide guidance and directions for responding to various types of social situations. The stories are used to describe social situations specific to individuals and circumstances while promoting self-awareness, self-calming, and self-management. Social Stories™ are not meant to change behavior; rather, they are meant to clarify social expectations using images or words to present the situation.  Social Stories(TM)  are a  complementary resource to support  Social Thinking(c)  concepts and curriculum

While Social Stories (TM) were originally developed by Carol Grey for children with autism spectrum disorders, they are useful for any individual of any age who experiences challenges with appropriate social communication.

This workshop is designed to provide participants with:

– a foundational understanding of what Social Stories are (TM)

– a process for creating Social Stories

– increased awareness of the different ways Social Stories may be used to support students in our schools

– an opportunity to create a Social Story for a targeted student/ or group of students you work with.
