Announcing Financial Support and Return to School Plans

Dear Parents

At ESF, we understand how difficult the last eight months have been for many of our families, both financially and emotionally. We are committed to helping parents through this difficult time, which is why we are offering a further relief grant and also extending the Financial Assistance Scheme.

ESF Relief Grant

Families will be able to ‘opt in’ to receive a grant, which is calculated as 45% of one month’s tuition. It will be extremely easy to apply for and more details will come from your school soon. The ‘opt in’ process will all be done through the ESF App, which most of you are using already. If not, please download it and opt in before 22 September 2020.

ESF Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS)

Last year we provided more than HK$23m worth of financial support to over 200 families through the FAS. We are continuing to extend the scheme to offer financial assistance to all ESF families, who are suffering from financial hardship due to Covid-19. For more information, please go to this website: www.esf.edu.hk/esf-fas.

Return to School Plans

Our schools have been fine-tuning their plans to bring their students back as quickly and as safely as possible. Across schools our approach has been consistent, focusing on maximising face-to-face time for students, on campus. As you may imagine, there will be variations in implementation of plans from school to school due to differences in available space. All schools have specifically tailored their models to best meet their student’s needs safely. Your child’s school will update you soon with further details.

Holidays

I wanted to acknowledge and address the concerns of many parents regarding the decision to keep the October mid-term break as planned. Let me reiterate that it was not a decision taken lightly, nor without critically evaluating the pros and cons of such a move. Unfortunately, the alternative options proved infeasible and most importantly, not conducive to optimizing learning. Limited numbers of students will be in school from 16 September with the phased return starting on 23 September and all students back by 29 September. Our focus remains on maximising the time we have with our students in the safest way possible.
