ESF Orchestra and Choir Concert 2010
The threat of a typhoon wasn’t enough to dampen spirits at the 2010 Orchestra and Choir Concert on 21 September.
In a break with tradition, a decision was made to hold the concert earlier in the school year and four days of intensive rehearsals were scheduled. The full-day sessions paid off - 87 musicians and 129 choir members from seven secondary schools gave a professional and highly enjoyable performance for an appreciative audience at City Hall.
Deserving of special mention is Debra Jones, Project Coordinator and music teacher from South Island School who was responsible for the artistic programme, new uniforms and for her contribution to making a success of the event.
Praise also to the conductors: Paul Stanley, Phil Tudor, Leigh Dalgarno (Orchestra) and Malcolm Godsman, Mary Paciello, Jo-Anne Trevenna and Canice Gleeson (Choir).
