Year 7 ESF Central Application Procedures for Admission in 2012/13

Central Application Period is 1 September to 30 September 2011.

Children born in 2001 are due to start Year 7 at the beginning of the Academic Year 2012-2013.

A. Applying from an ESF Primary School (for current Year 6 ESF students only):

Year 7 Transfer Application Forms is available online by logging in to the Gateway from 6 September 2011. The  online form should be completed and submitted on or before 22 September 2011. Supporting documents are not required. All students currently in an ESF primary school are guaranteed a place in an ESF secondary school, but ESF reserves the right to change the present zones to reflect the distribution of applications.

Please note that a student joining Year 6 on or after 23 August 2011 is guaranteed a ESF secondary school place but not necessarily at the school of zone. A student joining Year 6 after 1 December 2011 cannot be guaranteed a secondary school place but will be given high priority on any waiting list.

B. Applying from a non-ESF Primary School: 

Applications for Year 7 should be made on the Year 7 Central Online Application Form. Supporting documents along with a copy of your completed online application form should be sent by registered mail to English Schools Foundation, Year 7 Central Admissions, 25/F, Fortis Centre, 1063 King's Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong.

An email acknowledgement will be sent to you upon submission of the online application form. It is important you provide valid email addresses on your online form as general correspondence will be through email.

  1. All applications received with payment of application fee on or before 30 September 2011 will be  processed in random order, assigned a computer generated sequential number and placed in the relevant category. All applications are considered at the same time after the deadline and not in the order of submission. However, we suggest to parents not to wait until the Central Admissions deadline of 30 September 2011 to submit the online application.
  2. Applications received after the deadline date will be attached to the waiting lists according to the priority category and date of application.
  3. Applicants not offered a test/interview will be placed on the waiting list in category order and sent an acknowledgement letter. Year 7 testing will take place on Saturday 29 October 2011.

C.  Deposit Payment and Refundable Capital Levy Payment

  1. All those applying from ESF primary schools and other successful applicants will have places confirmed in December 2011.
  2. Successful applications will be expected to have their places confirmed by payment of both the deposit and the Refundable Capital Levy on or before 31 January 2012.
  3. Those applying from ESF primary schools who have paid the Refundable Capital Levy will be required to pay the deposit to confirm their places before the due date mentioned above.
  4. Those applying to both ESF and Discovery College or Renaissance College are asked to confirm their choice by payment of deposit by 16 December 2011. We ask that a deposit is paid on only one school in order that schools can offer vacated places to others.
  5. Successful applicants from other Hong Kong schools are asked to confirm by payment of deposit on or before 16 December 2011.
