I wanted to give you an update on where things now stand in regards to the upcoming exam period for your children.
Unfortunately, the situation is not as simple as we would all like – with some exams cancelled and some still scheduled to take place. I know that many of you will have seen speculation circulating on social media and the media last night about the IB exams. That this important information came out in such a way is simply not right and is something that I will pick up with the IBO at an appropriate time.
That time is not now, however. The task at hand is to make sure that you understand what is happening for your own child. With that in mind, I have listed the current situation with all of our public exams, below.
What I would say to you is this. Although there is not yet a consistent approach by all the Exam Boards in terms of whether or not examinations are proceeding, there is a consistent message for you to hear: even if an exam is cancelled, your child’s school and the Exam Board will make sure that your child receives an award that best reflects their performance.
I know that this is a time of great anxiety for you and your family. I can give you my absolute assurance that we will mobilise every resource that ESF has in order to ensure that every single one of our students – whether they are able to sit their exams or not – gets the results that their incredible hard work deserves.
Your school will be in touch with you shortly to give you any further information that you might need.
As always, my grateful thanks for all of your support.

IB Diploma and IB Career-related Programme: CANCELLED
The exams that were scheduled to take place in May have all been cancelled. The IBO is currently finalizing the process that they will use, in tandem with your child’s school, to make sure that every student receives an award that reflects their performance over the course of the programme. The IBO have committed to having that in place by March 27.
We have been given an assurance that this will be an award that will be recognized by Universities.
Schools will be in contact with those students undertaking a BTEC course in order to discuss the completion of practical elements.
The exams that were scheduled to take place in April and May have all been cancelled. The Exam Board is currently finalizing the process that they will use, in tandem with your child’s school, to make sure that every student receives an award that reflects their performance over the course of the programme.
As yet, we do not have a date as to when this will be in place.
IGCSE: PARTIALLY CANCELLED
IGCSE exams are operated across the world by a number of different Exam Boards. As yet, there is not a consistent position as to which exams will proceed and which will be cancelled.
For those exams that do not proceed, the Exam Boards will put in place, in tandem with your child’s school, a process that ensures that every student receives an award that reflects their performance over the course of the programme.
For those exams that do proceed, normal procedures will apply.
Your child’s school will be in touch with you shortly to confirm which IGCSE exams are still proceeding. They will keep you fully informed of any changes to this position.
