Overnight, another of the Exam Boards took the decision to cancel their upcoming IGCSE examinations. The remaining Board has told us that, while they are still intending to go ahead, exams should only take place if schools are open.
As you know, in response to the increase in cases of Covid-19 in Hong Kong, we recently took the decision to further restrict access to our schools for both staff and students. It is also the case that the Government has made it clear that students being back in school on April 20 as previously planned is now highly unlikely.
In light of all of this, we have today decided that it is right that all IGCSE external exams are now cancelled.
Our schools will now be working with the Exam Boards on the arrangements that will need to be put in place to make sure that your child gets awarded the grade that best reflects their performance over the course of the programme.
While this is worked out, it is absolutely imperative that all of our students continue to attend their online classes, continue to engage with their learning and complete any and all coursework. I don’t want a single one of our students to miss out on getting the right grade because they were unable to submit the evidence required to satisfy the requirements of the Exam Board.
Your school will make contact with you shortly to discuss all of this in more detail.
As always, thank you for your incredible support.
